It really is all about the right fit for you. You need to think about what kind of use your countertops will be getting. If we’re talking about color crayons and peanut butter and jelly, then maybe the lighter color granite countertops aren’t the best choice!
The good news is if homeowners want a certain look, but the material just doesn’t match with their lifestyle, there’s probably another material that does. Quartz, which is a dominate choice in todays’ installations, is a manufactured product, and quite attractive. Quartz can have a more consistent coloring than natural stone, with or without veining or movement. (The “natural” version of this is quartzite.) The manufacturing process for quartz allows a much wider range of colors than you’ll find in natural stones such as marble or granite. The appearance of the finished engineered stone is rich, and luxurious. Quartz is also non-porous, so it resists staining much better than natural stones, and provides a very upscale look, with very low maintenance requirements.
Still, some homeowners will prefer the more natural look of granite, marble, quartzite, slate, or even wood for their countertops. If you prefer a natural material, granite is still a top choice for homeowners and also comes in many different colors like blacks, whites, greens, corals, and beiges, and no two pieces are exactly the same.
