How can you tell if a wall is load bearing?
Exterior walls around the outside perimeter of your home are usually load-bearing. As are stacked walls in a multi-story home. Inside walls that are located directly on top of one another are usually load-bearing too.. If each interior wall is the same distance away from the exterior wall, they are probably load-bearing too.
Walls with a beam, column or jack posts directly underneath them are also probably load-bearing. And if you have access to blue prints for your home, the walls marked with an “S” are load bearing.
